St. Patrick’s Day Leprechaun; Made From A Paper Bowl

What you will need:

2 paper bowls

Green paint

Paint brush

Bowl for paint

Orange foam paper or construction paper

Pink foam paper or construction paper

Black tissue paper

Yellow foam paper or construction paper

School Glue

Scissors

Hot glue gun

Googly eyes

 

Directions:

Pour green paint into your bowl.

Paint one paper bowl green (on the curved side only).

Let the bowl dry.

Using the hot glue gun, glue the two bowls together, leaving enough room to create the face.

Using the foam or paper, cut out the beard shape.

Using the school glue, attach the beard to the edge of the bowl.

Twist together a piece of black tissue paper and gently glue onto the top bowl. This is the belt for the hat.

Cut out a small rectangle from the yellow foam or paper and glue it onto the center of the black tissue paper. It is the buckle.

Glue on the googly eyes.

Using the pink foam or paper, cut out two small ovals for the cheeks and a smile face. Glue them on.

Mr. Long Legs; Easter Bunny Craft

What you will need:

Scissors

Glue

Marker

Pom Pom

Googly eyes

Tissue paper

Paper

 

Directions:

Cut out the shapes of the head, ears, dress, arms, legs, hands, feet.

Assemble the bunny  by gluing the head and dress together.

Glue the ears to the head.

Glue the arms and legs onto the bunny.

Glue googly eyes onto the bunny and the pom pom for the nose.

Decorate the eyes as desired and draw a mouth for the bunny.

Decorate the bunny's legs.

Cut 2 3inch by 3 inch pieces of tissue paper. Using the tip of a pencil (or just use your finger) twist the paper and glue it onto the dress.

Cut out an egg shape and decorate it.

Glue the egg into the hands of the bunny and then glue the top of the egg to the bunny’s dress.

Toilet Paper Roll Leprechaun Kid's Craft

What you will need:

Toilet paper roll

Construction paper

Scissors

Glue

Tape

Pipe cleaner

Marker

Directions:

Cover the toilet paper roll in construction paper.

Use tape to secure it.

Create the hat by cutting a large circle about 3in X 3in.

Create the top of the hat by taping the construction paper together and making a tube shape.

Glue the top of the hat to the base and allow to dry.

Cut out a 1in. strip of black construction paper and glue it to the bottom of the hat.

Cut out a small square and glue it to the center of the black strip.

The hat is complete.

Draw a face for your leprechaun.

Cut out another 1 in. black strip and glue it to on the center of the leprechaun's body.

This is his belt.

With the pipe cleaner twist and shape a 3 leaf clover and glue it to the top of the hat.

CD Shamrock; St. Patrick's Day Kid's Craft

What you will need:
3 old CD's or DVD's
Glue
Glitter or beads (photo shows beads, but glitter is just as awesome)
Scissors
Pipe cleaner for stem or Construcion paper

Directions:
Glue the Cd's together. (Elmer's glue works fine, but super glue dries faster)
Glue on the pipe cleaner or the the paper stem.
Apply a small layer of White school glue (Elmer's) to the three Cd's.
Sprinkle with green glitter or decorate with beads and gems.

Mardi Gras Noodle Necklace; Kid's Mardi Gras Craft

We all made noodle necklaces as kids, right? Let's dye the noddles and have some Mardi Gras fun too!

What you will need:
Bowls
Water
Food coloring
Noodles
Spoon
String or pipe cleaners

Directions:
Put 5 drops of food coloring into a bowl with 1/2 cup of water.
Mix well.
Drop the noodles into the dye.

Stir often for 3 minutes. (If you leave them in too long they get mushy or crack).
Allow noodles to dry on a paper towel.

String noodles on a string or on two pipe cleaners. (twist the pipe cleaners together to secure).

Kid Friendly Jester Hat; Mardi Gras Kid Style

What you will need:
Construction paper
Pom Poms
Scissors
Glue
Tape

Directions:
Tape 2 pieces of paper together and cut a 3 inch strip.
Tape the ends together to form a circle. (tape the inside and the outside of the hat)
Cut out 6 long paper strips. (similar to a long triangle)
Wrap the paper strips around your finger to get them to curl.
Glue a pom pom to each one.
Allow to dry.
Tape to the inside of the hat.

Please note that I made the mistake of only making one! My boys fought over it (Don't let the face in the top picture fool you. He was just being a clown), so word to the wise... Make at least one for each child. Happy Mardi Gras Everyone!

DIY Mardi Gras Mask; Kid Friendly Mardi Gras Craft

What you will need:
Paper bag or Card stock type paper
Glue
Glitter
Scissors
Popsicle stick
Pen

Directions:
Draw the mask on the paper bag or card stock.
Cut it out.

Draw your design with glue and sprinkle with glitter.
Glue a Popsicle stick onto the back.
Allow to dry and you have your own Mardi Gras Mask!

We had tons of fun making this mask! If you do not have glitter, you could do something awesome with markers as well. Happy Fat Tuesday!

Toilet Paper Roll Cat In The Hat HAT; Perfect Size For A Barbie Or Action Figure

What you will need:
Toilet paper roll
Construction paper
Glue
Scissors

Directions:
Cover the toilet paper roll in white paper.

Cut out 5 strips of red paper and glue it on.

Cut out a circle. If you want to put it on an action figure or a barbie, cut a hole in the middle.

Glue the circle on.

Dr. Seuss Hat, Cat In The Hat Craft

In honor of Dr. Seuss's birthday, I'd like to share with you a simple craft: Dr. Seuss's Cat In The Hat Hat.

What you will need:
Scissors (scissors that cut straight or wavy work perfectly)
Glue
Paper
Pipe cleaners
Bells (optional)

Directions:
Using white constructions paper, tape two pieces together.
Tape the paper together to form a tube shape.
Cut out 5 strips of red paper.
Glue the red strips on.
Using a hole punch or the tip of an ink pen, punch through holes at the top of the hat.
Place the pipe cleaners into the holes and twist the end (inside the hat) to form a little ball. This will keep it from falling out.
Curl the pipe cleaner around your finger.
Add bells if desired.

I have posted this before, but since my kids and I are currently making it, I thought I'd share once again. Have fun!

Ingredients:

1 cup flour

1/2 cup salt

1 cup water

1 Tablespoon oil

2 teaspoons cream of tartar

Food coloring by drops

Directions:

1. Combine all ingredients in a pan and stir.  Cook over low heat, stirring until a ball forms.

2. Add food coloring and mix thoroughly until desired color.

3. Cool on wax paper. Store in covered container.

What you will need:

Paper plate

Googly eyes

Scissors

Glue

Crayon/ Marker

Directions:

Color 3/4 of the plate orange.

Cut out the hat.

Cut out a piece of black paper and a yellow square.

Assemble the hat and glue it on the paper plate.

Glue on the googly eyes.

Draw a smiley face.

Nickelodeon Power Ranger Mask; Step by Step Instructions To Make Your Own Power Ranger Mask

Nickelodeon has really been promoting the new Power Ranger show. My little one has really taken a liking to this show. He LOVES to dress up, so you can imagine what he asked for. Since costumes online can be kind of spendy, I decided to get crafty and make him a mask. He loves it and has requested I make myself a pink mask so I too can fight the bad guys.

What you will need:
Paper plate
Tape
Pipe cleaner
Red and Black crayon
Scissors
Glitter glue (optional)

Directions:
Cut out the eyes and a mouth.

Draw the black design.
Color the remainder of the plate red.
Add the glitter glue if desired.
Tie 2 pipe cleaners together. Bend the end and twist. This assures the pipe cleaner will not poke your child's head while wearing the mask.

Use tape to secure the pipe cleaner.

*Elastic would work better than a pipe cleaner, but I did not have any and MeloMomma is all abut crafting with things on hand!

Pot Of Gold; St. Patricks Day Craft For You and Your Little Leprechauns

What you will need:
Gold foiled candy
Pot (or bucket) Paint
Pipe cleaners
Glue

Directions:
Paint the pot or bucket your choice of color.
Allow to dry and fill it with gold foiled candy. (Winco carries gold money in the bulk section)
Using pipe cleaners, curve them to make a handle.
Using ceramic glue, glue them to the inside. I am willing to bet super glue would work too if you have this on hand.

St. Patrick's Day Kid's Craft; Leprechaun Photograph Frame

What You Will Need:
Construction paper
Photo
Glue stick
Scissors

Directions:
Cut out all the shapes as seen below.

Cut out a small hole in the yellow construction paper.
Glue paper ontop of the photo.

Glue orange hair onto paper.
Glue hat ontop of orange hair.

Add the black stripe to the hat and glue on the shamrock.

I saw this in a Disney magazine, created it MeloMomma style, and shared it with you.

Toilet Paper Roll Rabbit; Simple Kid Craft

What you will need:
Toilet paper roll
Marker
Scissors
Glue
Paper

Directions:
Cover the toilet paper roll in white paper.
Fold a piece of paper and cut out the hands.
Cut out a carrot and color it.
Glue the carrot to the hands and glue the hands to the toilet paper roll.

Fold a piece of paper and cut out the ears.
Glue on the ears.
Draw the face.

This is an alternative face.

Toilet Paper Roll Train; Goldfish Cracker Box Cars

What you will need:
Card board box ( tea box or a cereal box cut in half works great. I cut a gold fish box in half)
1 toilet paper roll
Scissor
Tape
Scissors
Glue
Marker
Construction paper

Directions:
If not using a pre made box make two boxes.

Cover the boxes in paper.
Cover the toilet paper roll in paper. Use tape to secure it.
Cut 1/4 off the toilet paper roll.
Cut out 12 wheels.
Draw the rims on the wheels and glue them on.
Tape or glue on the smoke stack.

Decorate the box cars.
